American recognition for Gábor Stépán

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has granted the Lyapunov Award to Gábor Stépán, Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and BME’s Bolyai Prize-winning professor.

ASME has been the world's largest organisation of mechanical engineers since 1880. Its Lyapunov Award was founded in 2003 and is awarded every two years for outstanding research in the field of nonlinear dynamics. Gábor Stépán received the award for his pioneering contributions to the theory, computation and industrial applications of delayed dynamical systems, as well as for his leadership in research, education and mentoring.

The award was presented in Boston on 22 August.
